Angle valve is an indispensable small object in home decoration. It is necessary to connect the faucet, toilet and water heater during the home decoration process. So, what kind of device is an angle valve? How to buy? How to install? How to repair?
The angle valve is an angle valve. The angle valve is similar to the spherical valve, and its structure and characteristics are modified by the spherical valve. The difference between the angle valve and the spherical valve is that, as shown in the cross-sectional view of the general accessory angle valve in the following figure, the outlet of the angle valve is at a right angle to the inlet.
The angle valve has three ports for inlet, outlet and water control, so some people call the angle valve "triangular valve". The home improvement angle valve is mainly used to install the domestic water pipe, which is convenient to connect with the pipe under the basin, the toilet, the column, and the faucet to control the amount of cold and hot water entering the pipe. For most angle valves, red and blue represent cold water and hot water.
Angle valves are not only suitable for household use, but can also be used in industry. The structure of the angle valve is actually similar to that of a straight-through single-seat regulating valve, except that it presents a right angle.
What is the angle valve used for?
Generally speaking, in the process of home decoration, as long as there is a place where water flows into it, in principle, an angle valve is needed. Just like the angle valve shown by the Italian Jaffe company in the picture below, it is equivalent to a connector with a switch to connect the water outlet and the water inlet pipe. Because only cold water flows into the toilet, only one angle valve is used. If there are hot and cold water in the basin, two angle valves are needed. Because of its small size, the angle valve is usually installed on a wall with tiles, which can conveniently close the water inlet and outlet at any time.
In the past, the water pipes in the house were not equipped with angle valves-the pipes were all connected directly. Obviously, this connection method is inconvenient to control the sluice, and it is also inconvenient to replace and maintain. Now that there is an angle valve, there is no need to close the main gate to check for pipeline problems. This will not affect the use of other pipelines, which is very convenient.
The characteristics of the angle valve.
The angle valve has a simple flow path, and the dead zone and vortex zone are small. With the help of the scouring effect of the medium itself, it can effectively prevent the medium from clogging and has good self-cleaning performance.
The angle valve has small flow resistance, and its flow coefficient is greater than that of a single-seat valve, which is equivalent to a double-seat valve.
Angle valve is suitable for high viscosity, suspended solids and particle fluid pipelines, or where right-angle pipelines are required.
The flow direction of the angle valve is generally bottom in and bottom out, in special cases it can be reversed, that is, the flow direction is side in and bottom out.
How to choose an angle valve?
So, how many angle valves do we need in the home improvement process?
According to statistics, there are generally four positions for corner valves for home decoration: the upper water inlet of the bathroom needs a single cold; the upper water inlet of the washbasin needs 1 cold and 1 hot; the kitchen sink inlet needs 1 cold and 1 hot; the water heater inlet needs a cold A hot.
Based on the above calculations, a total of 7 angle valves are needed-4 cold and 3 hot. If you have 2 toilets at home, you need 8 angle valves, -5 "cold" and 3 "hot". If you have two bathrooms, two washbasins, and two toilets in your home, you need 10 angle valves-6 "cold" and 4 "hot".
The purchase of angle valves should be observed from the following aspects:
Material—Look at the material first, copper will be heavier. Excellent materials can greatly extend the service life of the product. Although the angle valves made of zinc alloy on the market are relatively cheap, they are prone to breakage after a year, and maintenance is also more difficult.
Spool-Next, look at the spool (usually ceramic spool). The valve core is the key to the product, it is the key to the valve core, especially the sealing ring and ceramic disc inside. But usually we can't see it, so we have to try the feel. The hand feel is too heavy, the switch is uncomfortable, the hand feel is too light, and it will leak water soon. The soft touch has a longer life.
Gloss——Look at the electroplating last, pay attention to the gloss, whether the product is blistered or scratched, the surface of a good product is smooth, and the hand feels smooth and flawless.
Brand-the most important thing to choose an angle valve is to look at the brand. Generally, the angle valve standards of big brands are more secure in terms of quality and service. Don't buy "Three Nothing" products for convenience or cheapness, so as to avoid problems and no claims.
How to install the angle valve.
1. Ask professionals to install it, and install it in a good place to avoid accidental loss;
2. Before installation, be sure to remove the sand and debris in the outlet pipe to avoid blocking the ceramic pieces and causing water leakage;
3. During the installation process, do not hold the hand wheel of the angle valve to rotate and tighten it. Wrap several layers of cloth or paper towels and other buffers on the valve body, and then use a wrench to clamp the valve body and rotate it tightly.
4. After installation, the main valve should be opened for water supply, and the angle valve should be checked for leakage. Generally, the pressure can be confirmed for about 15 minutes.
What should I do if the angle valve leaks?
If the angle valve leaks, the valve core of the angle valve is found to be broken and can only be replaced. If the angle valve leaks at the interface, just wrap an extra layer of sealing material tape and tighten it. In real life, some owners' new houses have just been renovated, and the triangle valve on their water heater broke, causing water leakage in the pipes and water in the floor, TV cabinet, and closet. This happens usually because the angle valve is of poor quality. Therefore, in the process of home improvement, we must pay attention to choosing a good quality angle valve.
